Semi-permanent price reduction

I want to apologize for not providing updates regarding the migration of the course to Godot 4. But as I said in a previous post, "updating the course to Godot 4" actually means "creating a whole new course from scratch" - and this is something I still cannot do, or to be very open, it's something that I do not want to do yet, in exchange for not compromising the quality due to lack of interest.

TL;DR;

  • The course code has already been migrated to Godot 4 (link below).
  • There's no estimate of when the course itself is being recorded and edited for Godot 4, as I still don't have the interest to do it and I need to be fully immersed in something in order to do it well, otherwise quality can be compromised and that is unacceptable, so it's better to simply not do it at all (anyway the course as it currently stands is DONE, 10h of content for you to learn how to make GUIs and dynamic systems with Godot 3.5 :)).
  • 3 different Godot 4.* versions made me lose confidence on choosing a version for the course, we need a Godot 4 LTS version. I don't want to choose a version, spend 2 months re-creating the course just for it to be obsolete a few months later.
  • The Godot project not having a clear, public roadmap makes things worse (in this regard, of making it hard to choose a LTS version).
  • Course is now semi-permanently priced at US$ 29.90 - price will be back to US$ 129.90 if it's ever re-created with Godot 4.

Hyper Focus

I am juggling between many side projects while having a full-time work. In order for me to do something, I really need to be interested and engaged in it. Everything I have ever done in my life happened through being hyper focused and hyper interested in it, there's no middle term for me - I don't function like "normal" people where "I can do a bunch of this and a bunch of that, balancing things out". I'm either COMPLETELY engaged and immersed in it, having a GENUINE INTEREST, or not engaged and not interested at all.

For example, this course was actually created in a hyper-focus mania state that lasted around 45 days of non-stop work, i.e. 45 days of crunching (while juggling my day job). If I am not 100% engaged and embraced in a project, then I cannot give my best, which in turn can compromise the quality of what I create and that is unacceptable for me, and for that reason, I simply prefer to not do anything at all - which is the case with this course. I've been simply not interested at all in creating this course again, from scratch.

Messy Godot 4 versions and lack of roadmap

One of the biggest culprits is because I've not been happy with Godot 4 having 3 separate versions (4.1, 4.2 and the upcoming 4.3 which brings major breaking changes). I talked about this in the past here, and I would pick up Godot 4.2, but I lost momentum and currently that would also imply a risk of creating a course that would be obsolete in a few months again. On the other hand, if I wait too much, Godot 4.* might end up losing momentum because the next cool toy could be Godot 5, and then I won't ever be able to choose a version that is stable enough.

The fact that the Godot project does not have a public roadmap and lacks clear direction, is not helpful either. In this regard it makes it hard for long term decisions that use the Godot engine.

Price Reduction

Since I have no idea of when the update is coming out, and since it has been more than an year since it was supposed to be released, I think it's about time the course gets a semi-permanent price reduction.

The condition? Once the update, or for better wording, the creation of the course with Godot 4 happens from scratch, then the price will be back to its US$ 129.90 baseline.

But if you are interested in learning how to make GUIs and dynamic systems with Godot, fear not, this course is still extremely valuable and the knowledge transfers to Godot 4 (the concepts are all the same). Nothing changed - this course is here, done, with a lot of great reviews and 10 hours of content waiting for you :)

As state in the sales page:

[..] if you buy the current version, it's already packed with knowledge that you can use with Godot 3 and Godot 4 - there are no other GUI-heavy courses like this one for Godot out there :)

Code updated to Godot 4

The course code has been already updated to Godot 4, it's available on Github. So, you could learn with the course, following with the recommended version of Godot 3.5 and then later you can get the Godot 4 version of the project and compare to see the differences.
